SOUTH East Queensland’s leading developer of luxury over 50s communities, Halcyon, has unveiled plans for its third Sunshine Coast project after securing a site at Bli Bli.
The Halcyon Lakeside development will take shape on an 11ha parcel within the masterplanned Parklakes 2 community and include more than 450 metres of lake frontage.
Halcyon Lakeside will offer some of the most affordable Halcyon product on the Sunshine Coast in years and follows on from the success of the 171-home Halcyon Landing community, also at Bli Bli, which is now sold out.
Halcyon intends starting site works on the development early in the second half of the year.
Halcyon joint managing director Bevan Geissmann said the decision to push ahead with Halcyon Lakeside was driven by the popularity of Halcyon Landing with their target market.
“Many people missed out at Halcyon Landing, especially in the early stages,” he said.
“Our experience at Halcyon Landing demonstrated the ongoing demand for this style of product in the Bli Bli area and has guided our decision to forge ahead with a project nearby.
“The Sunshine Coast is a region of South East Queensland favoured by retirees for its climate, lifestyle and amenities, and that drawcard quality has been reflected in strong sales in our communities in the area.”
The parcel, acquired from the developers of Parklakes 2, Sunshine Coast property identities Robert Flipp and Peter Shadforth, has approval in place for 226 homes.
Dr Geissmann said Halcyon would review the layout with the view to reducing the number of lots in order to increase block sizes and communal space – a formula that has proven successful at the company’s other projects.
“All homes will feature superior energy ratings and the community will include an extensive recreational precinct,” said Dr Geissmann.
“Importantly, Halcyon Lakeside will connect with six kilometres of walkways and bike paths throughout the Parklakes community.”
Dr Geissmann said Bli Bli was experiencing a heightened profile as the geographic centre of the Sunshine Coast.
“Halcyon Lakeside will be part of the revitalization that is occurring at Bli Bli with new residential and commercial projects, a new golf course and the expansion of the shopping centre,” he said.
Dr Geissmann said Halcyon Lakeside would offer exciting new home designs and facilities with homes priced from under $400,000.
Established in 2004, Halcyon has completed Halcyon Parks at Caloundra and Halcyon Waters at Hope Island on the Gold Coast, with Halcyon Landing due for completion in September after selling out earlier in the year.
